How to Set Up IPTV on a Smart TV: Samsung, LG & More (2026)

How to set up IPTV on a Samsung, LG, Sony, TCL or Hisense Smart TV: which app to use on each system, how to add your login, and what to do if there's no app.

By the Multivision IPTV support team

Quick answer: To set up IPTV on a Smart TV, open your TV's app store, install an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists, and enter the login from your provider. Sony, TCL and Hisense TVs running Google TV can use TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro from the Play Store. Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) TVs have their own IPTV apps, which vary by model — if yours has none, a Firestick is the easy fix.

Step 1: Find out which system your TV runs

Check Settings → About (or Support → About this TV) if you're not sure.

Step 2: Set up IPTV on your TV

  3. Choose Add playlist → Xtream Codes and enter your server, username and password.
  4. Wait for channels and the guide to load.

Samsung (Tizen)

  1. Press Home and open Apps.
  2. Search for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists.
  3. Install it and open it. Some apps show a device ID and ask you to add your playlist on their website; others let you type the login on the TV.
  4. Enter your login details and restart the app.

LG (webOS)

  1. Press Home and open the LG Content Store.
  2. Search for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U.
  3. Install and open it, then add your playlist on the TV or through the app's website using the device ID shown.

Some Samsung and LG IPTV apps are free; others charge a small one-time activation fee after a trial period. App availability changes, so check reviews in your TV's store before paying.

Roku and VIDAA TVs

These systems have very limited IPTV app support. The simplest solution is to plug a Firestick or Google TV streamer into a spare HDMI port — see the best IPTV apps for Firestick.

Step 3: Get the best picture

  • Use Ethernet. Most Smart TVs have an Ethernet port, and a wired connection is the most stable option for live sports.
  • Match the picture mode. Use Standard or Movie mode and turn off motion smoothing if sports look unnatural.
  • Check your speed. Allow 10 Mbps for HD and 25 Mbps for 4K per stream.
  • Keep the TV updated under Settings → Support → Software update.

Troubleshooting

  • App not in store: your TV model or region may not support it — use a streaming stick.
  • Login rejected: re-check the server address, including http:// and the port number.
  • No guide: refresh the EPG in the app's playlist settings.
  • Buffering: follow our IPTV buffering fixes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watch IPTV on a Samsung Smart TV?+

Yes. Samsung TVs run Tizen, which supports several IPTV player apps in the Samsung app store. Availability varies by model and year; if your TV has no suitable app, plug in a Firestick or Google TV streamer instead.

What is the best IPTV app for LG TVs?+

LG TVs run webOS, where IPTV players vary by model and region. Search the LG Content Store for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U playlists. Some charge a small activation fee after a free trial period.

Is it better to use a Smart TV app or a Firestick for IPTV?+

A Firestick or Android TV box usually offers more app choice and smoother performance than a built-in Smart TV app. If your TV already has a good IPTV app, though, you don't need extra hardware.
