How to Set Up IPTV on Android TV & Google TV (2026)

Step-by-step: install an IPTV player on Android TV or Google TV, add your M3U or Xtream Codes login, set up the program guide and fix common setup problems.

By the Multivision IPTV support team

Quick answer: To set up IPTV on Android TV or Google TV, open the Google Play Store, install an IPTV player such as TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro, choose Add playlist, and enter the Xtream Codes login or M3U link from your provider. Your channels and program guide load in a minute or two. The whole process takes about 5 minutes.

What you need

  • An Android TV or Google TV device (TV, box or streamer) connected to the internet.
  • A Google account signed in on the device.
  • An IPTV subscription — for example a Multivision IPTV plan or free 3-hour trial.

Step 1: Check your connection and update the device

  1. Connect via Ethernet if possible; otherwise use 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  2. Go to Settings → System → About → System update and install any updates.
  3. Make sure you have at least 1 GB of free storage (Settings → Apps shows what's using space).

Step 2: Install an IPTV player

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your TV.
  2. Search for TiviMate or IPTV Smarters Pro.
  3. Select Install and wait for it to finish.

Step 3: Add your IPTV subscription

Using Xtream Codes (recommended)

  1. Open the app and choose Add playlist.
  2. Select Xtream Codes.
  3. Enter the server address, username and password from your welcome message.
  4. Select Next. The app loads your live channels, movies and series.

Xtream Codes is easier to type on a remote and loads the program guide automatically in most apps.

Using an M3U link

  1. Choose Add playlist → M3U playlist.
  2. Enter the playlist URL exactly as provided (tip: send it to yourself and copy it with the phone remote app to avoid typos).
  3. If the guide doesn't load automatically, add the EPG URL from your provider in the playlist settings.

Step 4: Set up the guide and favorites

  • Refresh the EPG once the playlist loads, and set it to update every day.
  • Hide channel groups you never watch to make the list faster to browse.
  • Add favorites — in most apps, long-press a channel and choose Add to favorites.
  • Turn on catch-up in the app settings to replay programs from the last 7 days on supported channels.

Frequently asked questions

Which TVs run Android TV or Google TV?+

Many Sony, TCL, Hisense and Philips TVs run Android TV or Google TV, as do Google TV streamers, certified Android TV boxes and some projectors. Check Settings, then About, to confirm your TV's operating system.

Can I install IPTV apps from the Google Play Store?+

Yes. On Android TV and Google TV, popular IPTV players such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro can be installed directly from the Google Play Store.

Why does my IPTV app show channels but no program guide?+

The guide (EPG) loads separately from the channel list. Open the app's playlist settings, refresh the EPG, and make sure the guide source from your provider is added. Large guides can take a few minutes to load the first time.
